Massa formulating racing plan after F1

Felipe Massa has confirmed he is interested in turning his attention to DTM, WEC or Formula E to continue his racing career after retiring from Formula 1 at the end of the year.

After confirming his retirement plans in Monza, Massa has been investigating options post-F1 with a keen goal of remaining in racing potentially in DTM, WEC or Formula E to follow in the footsteps of fellow F1 drivers Mark Webber, Sebastien Buemi, Nick Heidfeld and many others.

"I have some people [interested] but I just need a bit of time to think about it and to decide in the best way," Massa explained. "As I said I will race I just need to understand what will be the right choice that I will keep enjoying and having fun.

"I don't think it will be stock cars, not IndyCar, I think maybe it will be DTM, WEC, Formula E, maybe one of these three I think. Everything's open, totally open."

Speculating on the future of F1, which will begin without Massa on the grid for the first time since 2003, the Brazilian is intrigued to see any potential changes which will be implanted under the new Liberty Media takeover in addition to the regulations revamp for 2017.

"I think Formula 1 will always try to change and improve things, sometimes it's not easy to change things because it's not only one guy that decides, it's all the teams who need to decide," he said. "One is always against the other one and it may be a nice thing to do, and they're not in favour, so it's not easy because you have so many people who needs to decide. This was always a problem in Formula 1."

Massa is expected to line-up for his 250th and final F1 race start at the season closer in Abu Dhabi before leaving the sport after a 14-year career.
