Maserati partner sponsor men´s world squash championship 2013
Maserati, one of the world's most iconic luxury sports car brands, was seen as partner sponsor of the 2013 Men's World Squash Championship which took place in Manchester from 26 October to 3 November.
It was the first time in the famous Italian car manufacturer's 99-year history that it has sponsored this sport in the UK, playing a prominent role in the most prestigious squash tournament in the world.
Maserati's involvement was a coup for the competition which featured 64 of the planet's best squash players battling it out for the right to be crowned champion of the world.
On Sunday evening, in an electrifying final of stamina, strength, speed and skill, England's Nick Matthew claimed the crown of number 1 in the world for the third time in his career, after edging a five-set thriller against Frenchman Gregory Gaultier.
James Cowan, Marketing Manager GB, Maserati North Europe said: "We are delighted to have supported the 2013 Men's World Squash Championship in Manchester. It is the very first time Maserati GB has had involvement in squash, but it was exciting to take part in such an important and world-class tournament for the sport. Maserati and squash are a perfect partnership with accuracy, agility, power and performance, all key elements and characteristics representative of both our cars and the sport."
On display outside Manchester Central, where the second half of the championships was held, was the Trident Marque's flagship, luxury four-door saloon the Maserati Quattroporte. Whilst capturing the attention of the many spectators inside, was its younger brother and brand new addition to the range, the Maserati Ghibli.
