Marklund reveals Euro RX Polo, confirms World RX outings
Marklund Motorsport has revealed the Volkswagen Polo Supercar its defending champion Anton Marklund will drive in the 2018 FIA European Rallycross Championship.
Three wins from five rounds saw Marklund clinch the 2017 Drivers' title at the wheel of a VW Polo, with the Swede remaining in Euro RX this season with a view to retaining his crown.
In addition, Marklund has also committed to two FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy starts, with entries submitted for the World RX of Great Britain and Norway, held at Silverstone and Hell respectively.
Ahead of the opening Euro RX round to be held at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain on April 14-15, Marklund anticipates a strong challenge from his rivals this season.
"I've been following the development of the new car during the winter and I can't wait until we're on the start line in Barcelona," he commented. "It won't be easy to defend the title, there are some very fast cars and drivers in Euro RX but we'll give it our all to be on top come the end of the season."
The Marklund Motorsport VW Polo Supercar will brandish a bold new yellow and blue livery to reflect its partnership with BILSTEIN.
"We have had a busy winter this year building a new car that has been created completely by our own competent staff, Marklund Motorsport Team Principal, Jan Marklund added. "We had a very good base to start from with the 2017 car, so it's been a case of fine-tuning and maximising what we had.
"It's very inspiring that we have signed long-term agreements with new partners that bring both strong technical and financial support to the team, and we're all very excited about working together in the year ahead."
