Lack of Nordschleife knowledge worries WTCR leader Tarquini

Gabriele Tarquini starts WTCR Race of Germany aiming to defend his lead of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO at a track he admits he doesn't know well or particularly likes.

With three wins from six WTCR OSCARO starts in his BRC Racing Team Hyundai i30 N TCR, the Italian is one of the favourites for success on the Nürburgring Nordschleife this week.

But despite racing on the 25.378-kilometre layout twice in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, Tarquini still has plenty to learn.

"Nürburgring Nordschleife is not my favourite circuit, because I don't know it well," said Tarquini. "It's charming but you have to treat it with respect. I am still learning its secrets so trying to understand it is the best way to approach it."
