Kvyat: I have my confidence back
Daniil Kvyat has declared he's got his racing confidence back after a turbulent middle chunk of the 2016 Formula 1 season while adapting with Toro Rosso.
The Russian driver endured a frustrating return to Toro Rosso after being swapped with Max Verstappen by Red Bull's driver advisor Dr Helmut Marko, with just two 10th place finishes acting as little respite over the European stint of the season.
Heading back on the flyaway races, Kvyat returned to the points with ninth place in Singapore and despite feeling he had more to give after being stuck behind Sergio Perez during his final stint he was satisfied with both his performance and result after a sticky period.
"It was a good, enjoyable race - we knew we could do a very good race here so we were pushing very hard and it was very enjoyable," Kvyat said. "It was shame we didn't risk enough with the strategy but that's the only complaint I have about it."
Moving on to Malaysia Kvyat is bracing for a tougher challenger with the Sepang International Circuit not suiting the strengths of the STR11 compared to Singapore but with the added boost of points he takes on the 16th round of the season in fine spirits.
"There are more straights, which are a pain for us, so we'll try and take the most out of it," he said. "I believe we can still do a good job because I believe in us. I feel I have my confidence back and with that I feel we can do good things."
