Kristoffersson takes Q2 victory

Sweden's Johan Kristoffersson set the fastest time in Q2 at the second round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy,World RX of Hockenheim. The Volkswagen RX Sweden driver is second at the end of the first day of action at the iconic Formula 1 circuit.

EKS driver Mattias Ekstrom was fastest in Q1 and third fastest in Q2 to finish top at the end of day one, before immediately jumping from his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro to his DTM Audi to take part in the first free practice session of the weekend for the series.

Timmy Hansen was second fastest in both Q1 and Q2 to be third at the end of Friday's racing, followed by Davy Jeanney. Reinis Nitiss won his race in Q2, pocketing eighth fastest time and is fifth with OlsbergsMSE driver Kevin Eriksson sixth.

Double World RX champion Petter Solberg is seventh overall with 2015 Argentina RX final finisher Janis Baumanis eighth and Topi Heikkinen ninth overall, the Finn having had a new engine fitted to his EKS Audi after practice.

Reigning RX Lites Cup champion Kevin Hansen is 10th at the end of day one. The Swede finished second to Nitiss in their Q2 race, ahead of former RX Lites rival Eriksson and Peugeot Hansen driver Sebastien Loeb. The Frenchman was ninth fastest in Q1 and 14th in Q2, losing time when he ran wide in the first corner.

Norway's Andreas Bakkerud was sixth fastest in Q2, fighting back after retiring from Q1 with damaged suspension on his Hoonigan Racing Ford Focus.

The RX Lites Cup joins World RX at Hockenheim and ran all of the four qualifying sessions today. Norway's Thomas Bryntesson is TQ heading into the semi-finals tomorrow, with France's Cyril Raymond second and Norway's Joachim Hvaal third. Germany's Patrick Simon qualified fourth on his rallycross debut.
