Kiss takes first win of the season at Slovakia Ring
Two-time FIA European Truck Racing Championship title-winner Norbert Kiss took his first win of the 2018 campaign in fourth and final race of the weekend at Slovakia Ring.
The Team Tankpool24 Racing driver started third for the semi-reversed grid race and cleared his team-mate Steffen Faas during the opening exchanges. After that he went on to chase leader and front-row started Rene Reinert. Halfway through the eight-lap race the Hungarian ace found his way by the blue MAN truck run by Reinert Racing and remained in control till the chequered flag.
Reinert finished second on the road but was given a 10-second penalty for overspeeding that moved him down to seventh overall.
The race featured closed fight with up to six trucks battling for a podium finish. Finally, Sascha Lenz came second aboard his SL Trucksport MAN, who finished ahead of his compatriots driving IVECOS Andre Kursim in a Don't Touch Racing machine and Jochen Hahn in his family Team Hahn Racing-run truck.
Fifth went to Adam Lacko in his Freightliner prepared by Buggyra International Racing System, who finished one place ahead of Steffi Halm in Team Schawabentruck IVECO.
Polesitter Steffen Faas brought his Mercedes-Benz truck home in eight overall and won the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP classification. The German racer made a slow start and lost ground to Reinert initially. Later on, he let his team-mate Kissy by and lost ground while battling with Lenz, losing several places as a result.
Brits Shane Brereton (TOR Truck Racing/MAN) and Oly Janes (Buggyra International Racing System/Freightliner) completed the top 10 overall and the podium in the GRAMMER TRUCK CUP. Janes was holding Brereton behind for most of the distance, only loosing out to his more experienced compatriot at the very end of the race.
Race 1 winner Antonio Albacete lost out on points, having started from the back of the pack following an exclusion in Race 3, and brought his Truck Sport Lutz Bernau MAN home in 11th.
The following places went to Ray Coleman (LRS Racing/MAN), Frankie Vojtisek (Czech Truck Racing Team/MAN), Luis Recuenco (Truck Sport Lutz Bernau/MAN) and Erwin Kleinnagelvoort (EK Trucksport/Scania).
