Keep calm is WTCR racer Huff’s message to Macau rookies
Rob Huff will tell the Macau rookies not to push too hard to soon when the legendary Guia Circuit hosts the climax to the inaugural WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO next week.
Huff, who drives a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for Sébastien Loeb Racing, is the most successful racer in Macau history with nine wins to his name. He's one of the favourites to add to that tally when the Suncity Group Guia Race takes place from 15-18 November.
"First to be fast in Macau you have to complete every lap of every practice session," said the Briton, who scored his first Macau win in 2008. "A lot of people go wrong because they push too soon, they hit the barrier and they're out. You have to have a respect for it that you don't have to have at other circuits. It's easy to find the limit [at modern Formula One circuits]. At Macau finding the limit is the hardest thing."
Huff's Macau debut in 2005 ended in this crash. His wrecked car is pictured right.
