I want to be better than Huff: Björk reveals WTCR aim
Thed Björk wants to emulate Rob Huff's success on street circuits - starting with next week's visit to Vila Real in Portugal for the fifth event of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.
Huff is the established street racing king with 11 round-the-houses victories to his name during the FIA World Touring Car Championship era. And while he hasn't tasted ultimate success in Vila Real, the Briton was the star performer on the city's streets last season when he charged through from last to fifth in the second of two WTCC races.
"I love street circuits and I would always like to challenge Rob to be the really good driver on street circuits," said Björk, the World Touring Car champion from 2017 and part of the Hyundai-powered YMR set-up in WTCR OSCARO.
"My strong side last year was Vila Real and also Macau. Being there for the first time I was really happy to be as fast as I was. I got beaten by some but I was strong on the street circuits so I look forward to Vila Real and also the new street circuit in China and Macau again. I'm a big fan."
Asked what it takes to be quick on the streets, Björk said: "The thing is to go close to the limit but not over it, that's really important on the street circuits, but to do it in a balanced way. You have to build up the speed to get close to the limit."
