Home WTCR win? Why not, says Bennani

Mehdi Bennani reckons there's no reason why he won't be able to take what would be a memorable home win when the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup kicks off in his native Morocco from 7-8 April.

Bennani is embarking on his fourth season as a Sébastien Loeb Racing driver in 2018. But having raced a Citroën C-Elysée in the WTCC, the 34-year-old will witch to a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for the inaugural WTCR season.

"WTCR cars are slightly different from the previous ones I raced but our technical team has already showcased their professionalism and expertise, so I'm confident we can fight for wins right from the start with the Golf GTI TCR," said Bennani.

Of his decision to extend his stint with France-based SLR, Bennani added: "Staying with Sébastien Loeb Racing for another campaign was an easy and obvious decision as we have built a strong relationship of trust over the years."
