He’s a Hero: WTCR winner Guerrieri is Brazil-bound
Esteban Guerrieri, a race winner in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, will make a guest appearance in the Brazilian Stock Car series at Cascavel this weekend.
He will partner FIA Formula E racer Lucas Di Grassi and Bruno Baptista in the Hero Motorsport team and will drive a Chevrolet Cruze-based silhouette with a 5.4-litre V8 engine putting out 540bhp.
Guerrieri raced against Di Grassi in the South American Karting Championship in 1997, while the #444 Cruze was raced by factory BMW star Antonio Félix da Costa last month.
"I am happy and ready to make my debut in the Brazilian Stock Car championship as a guest driver of the Hero Motorsport team, to whom I thank for this nice chance," said Argentine Guerrieri, who drives for the Honda-powered ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport team in WTCR OSCARO. "They are well prepared, so I guess we can do a good job. As a rookie, I will be able to do one more practice session than the rest."
Current Brazil Stock Car champion Daniel Serra, Rubens Barrichello, Carlos Bueno, Nelson Piquet Jr, Antonio Pizzonia, Max Wilson and Ricardo Zonta will also be in action in the two 40-minute races at the track located in Paraná state, close to the border with northeast Argentina.
"I have a lot of respect for the guys competing in the sport and its cars, which are very quick and powerful," said Guerrieri. "I am sure it will be a special weekend."
Guerrieri will be back on WTCR OSCARO duty during the China double-header, which begins at WTCR Race of China-Ningbo from 28-30 September.
