Haas has ‘grown up’ in 2017 – Grosjean

Romain Grosjean has given the Haas F1 Team a positive appraisal for its performance during the first half of its sophomore season in Formula 1 having already matched its points' tally from the entirety of 2016.

The incoming American team showed encouraging flashes of promise during its maiden F1 campaign last season en route to eighth in the constructors' standings, but has proven a more consistent midfield contender in an arguably more competitive line-up this year.

Culminating in drivers Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen already notching up the same 29 points it achieved last year in total, the Frenchman believes the strong momentum is down to the team ‘growing up' to avoid the fabled ‘second year slump'.

"It's been a very good feeling," he said. "We've achieved quite a lot compared to last year. Same amount of points, without the failure in Melbourne we would have six or eight more points so we are in a good place.

"The team is growing up, we've shown that in the year two where everyone was expecting us to dived down, we have actually stepped up our game so very pleased with that. As far as I am hoping and what we are getting since I signed back in 2015."

Though Grosjean stops short of regarding the season thus far as exceeding expectations, he takes great pleasure from races as the Austrian Grand Prix where Haas made a clear step forward in competitiveness.

"We are on target on expectation. We wanted to fight in the midfield, we sometimes we are ahead, sometimes we are a bit behind. Hopefully here we are in more of the Austrian position than we were in Silverstone, but you never know.

"I think generally there are a lot more things we can improve and there is lot more room for improvement in the team which is great to know because we are not fully at 100 percent potential.
