Guerrieri’s mixed emotions despite “best” WTCR weekend
Esteban Guerrieri scored two podiums and revealed his pace has never been better in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO. However, contact early in Race 3 meant it wasn't the dream weekend for the Argentine.
Second in Race 1 and third in the reverse-grid Race 2, Guerrieri had high hopes of a second WTCR OSCARO victory from row two in Race 3 only for opening-lap contact to leave his ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport Honda Civic Type R with damaged suspension.
"Pace-wise, this weekend has been my best event of the season, and it felt very satisfying to finish third in Race 2, because I started eighth, took a hard hit quite early on, but could continue to a strong result.
"In Race 3 the car I had in the first half-lap was incredible. Unfortunately, I went to overtake Norbi Michelisz, he turned in and the suspension was bent, so that was that. But the progress we made with the car from FP1 through to today was excellent and that gives me a lot of confidence going forwards."
