GTSPRINT: Team Swiss Maserati Corse to line-up a GT MC3
With almost two weeks to go before the start of the 2013 season, the GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES is proud to announce another high-profile addition to its roster, Team Swiss Maserati Corse.
The Swiss-based squad, managed by Guido Bonfiglio, will be fielding a Maserati GT MC3 at Monza. After the car's sensational debut last year at Vallelunga, where Alessandro Pier Guidi scored a stunning debut win in front of 33.000 people, this time it will be former SUPERSTARS team-mates Max Pigoli and Andrea Dromedari to answer the bell by lining-up in the 2013 season opener.
Moving on from a long and successful SUPERSTARS stint which included winning the 2006 title aboard a Jaguar, Pigoli will face a brand-new challenge, while Dromedari will be back to the series after having fought for the GTS Cup honours in 2010.
"It's going to be a challenge - told Pigoli - but after many rewarding years in SUPERSTARS I got a great new opportunity. Representing Maserati's prestigious heritage is very motivating for me. Our goal is to fight for wins and race the full GTSPRINT season. I got my first taste of the GT MC3 at Mugello and, despite the tough weather conditions, the feeling has been there from the start. Next Monday we will be testing at Vallelunga and we will do what we can to line-up in the series' collective test at Monza, on March the 27th".
"I can't wait to be back in GTSPRINT - said Dromedari - in 2010 I could have aimed for the title but some unfortunate episodes prevented me from accomplishing that feature. I'm as motivated as ever and I want my revenge. The car has all what it takes to succeed. Its 4.7-litre engine has more than 500 horsepower, so the potential is definitely there. I was very impressed at Mugello although we still have to tweak a thing or two to be 100% competitive. I'm really happy to have Max as a team-mate because we're great friends, and I'm proud to race for a top team like Team Swiss Maserati Corse. Let's say that we have the right mix to do very well this season!".
