GTSPRINT: Petri Corse to field a Porsche 997
Petri Corse have confirmed their entry in the 2013 GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES with a Porsche 997 which will be shared by Marco Cassarà and Gianluca Carboni - an experienced pair of GT racing regulars with longtime stints under the Stuttgart manufacturer's banner.
The Petri-prepared 997 will be joining the GTS Cup Trophy from round 1, set for April the 7th in Monza, while the line-up is being finalized for a second car to debut during the season. Petri Corse will be up for a double SUPERSTARSWORLD commitment as they are also set to field the returning Porsche Panamera racecars in SUPERSTARS.
"We are fully-committed to SUPERSTARSWORLD - told Petri - and our GTSPRINT program is equally interesting for us as the one in SUPERSTARS: we are looking forward to expand to three GTs. On the other hand, the two operations will be distinct for each series. I'm proud to have Carboni and Cassarà because, in addition to the very positive relationship between us, I think they will be able to perform great together".
"I've always wanted to join a Flammini-organized series - told Carboni - It will be interesting to race with such a great support on the grandstands and in the paddock. It's very unusual to race in such popular championships. In 2012 I ran in Spain with a Porsche and I scored great results. I'm looking forward to do the same this season in GTSPRINT".
"Our goal is victory - told Cassarà - we're big friends with Gianluca and we share the same vision of motor racing. This is set to be one of our strongest advantages. I know that our opponents will be tough to tame - it's gonna be one spectacular season!"
