GTSPRINT INT. SERIES: Swiss Maserati MC GT3 tops Monza
It's been a top-class start of the season for the Swiss Team Maserati MC GT3 in the GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES. With Max Pigoli and Andrea Dromedari sharing driving duties, the car powered to third place in Race 2 at Monza, on the last 7th of April.
The Modena-built racecar had made an outstanding breakthrough in the SWR-promoted series last season, cruising to a stunning overall win with Alessandro Pier Guidi at Vallelunga (in front of 33.000 fans), and the 2013 comeback has been equally exciting despite some tough breaks in practice and Race 1. The team, owned by Guido Bonfiglio, didn't back down though and the Pigoli-Dromedari duo was able to end up with a positive podium finish in Race 2.
"We were very curious about the true potential of our car and I have to say we've been definitely satisfied - told Pigoli - there's still some work to do but we're following the right path. On Race Day we ended up onto the podium despite a tough start with a small crash in practice. After entering qualifying with a still not perfect car we've been able to stay in the top-5. While in Race 1 we were stopped by a gearbox issue, we rebounded in Race 2 with a great podium finish. It's a well-deserved satisfaction for the team as they worked all-night long to fix our Granturismo MC GT3".
"It's been a two-faceted weekend - said Dromedari - after ending up off-track in practice, things seemed to become pretty hard for us but Swiss Team than displayed their professionalism handing us a very competitive car in qualifying and in the races. Being back in GTSPRINT has been exciting and the crowd on the grandstands proved the winning factor. I can't wait to be back on-track at Brno and we aim to stay among the frontrunners".
