From warm-up to step up: Zala set for ERC debut

Lithuania’s Vaidotas Žala will step up to the FIA European Rally Championship in 2019 with next week’s Rally Liepāja first on his schedule.

Co-driven by Andris Mālnieks from Latvia, Žala is also planning an outing on next month’s Rally Poland in a ŠKODA Fabia R5 under the Agrorodeo banner.

“We did a good warm-up last year with our ŠKODA R5 in Lithuania,” Žala explained. “Now it’s time to move on to international waters. We will start in European Rally Championship races, Rally Liepāja and Rally Poland.”

While Žala, pictured right, is new to the ERC, Mālnieks (left) has tackled several rounds in the past.

Rally Liepāja takes place from 24-26 May.
