First WTCR podium surreal, says driver/team boss Haglöf
Daniel Haglöf has described claiming his maiden podium in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO as “surreal”.
As well as racing in WTCR / OSCARO for the first time this year, Haglöf (pictured right) had never raced at the Hungaroring before.
Despite his dearth of experience, the Swede finished third in Race 2 having led during the early stages in his CUPRA TCR.
“It’s surreal,” Haglöf said following the race, which took place on a damp track. “I can’t believe we are here racing so a podium is even more outrageous.
“The conditions were really tough. It was the first time for me in the semi-wet, I had no clue what to expect. The first laps were completely insane. It calmed down for me a little bit after that and I found some decent rhythm. But it was a really tough race although I am so happy for Mikel Azcona in fourth and me in third. It’s unbelievable.”
Haglöf is the co-owner of PWR Racing, a newcomer to WTCR / OSCARO in 2019.
