F1 US GP: Force India an option but STR still ‘priority’ for Kvyat

Daniil Kvyat admits Force India could provide a tempting proposition for the 2017 Formula 1 World Championship, even though he insists his priority is to retain his seat at Toro Rosso.

With Nico Hulkenberg switching to Renault for 2017, Force India is lining up a number of drivers as potential candidates to join Sergio Perez in the podium winning team, including Kvyat.

As it stands, Toro Rosso is also yet to decide who will partner Carlos Sainz next season, though Kvyat is expected to come under pressure from GP2 title contender and Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly for the remaining seat.

With Pascal Wehrlein also considered to be in the running at Force India, while Kvyat was giving little away about the direction of his own talks behind the scenes, he says he would rather stay with Toro Rosso if he had the choice.

"My aim is to be in Formula 1 and nowhere else. Regarding all the rumours it is too early to comment. We will discuss all things behind closed doors and I have a big respect and loyalty to Red Bull. We will talk and discuss my aims in F1 and we will see. For sure I would like to know sooner rather than later.

"It is too early to talk about this kind of thing. We will have something coming up quite soon and of course I am looking for a place where I can show how good I am and Toro Rosso is a fantastic place, one big family, I feel very comfortable in the team but it all depends on what Red Bull is going to say."
