F1 tyre choices for Spanish-Azerbaijan GPs revealed by Pirelli

Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has announced its compound choices for the Spanish, Monaco, Canadian and Azerbaijan Grands Prix.

The soft, the medium and the hard are the compounds chosen by the Italian manufacturer for the Barcelona event, the fifth round of the championship.

For Monaco and Canada, Pirelli has opted for the same choices: the ultra-soft, the super-soft and the soft.

The super-soft, the soft and the medium will be taken to the second race hosted on the streets of Baku.

The options for all four races are the same as in 2016, with this year's tyres featuring revisions to each compound as part of the switch to much larger tyres for the new season.

One of the two hardest compounds must be used at least once during the races, while one set of the softest option must be saved for Q3, the top 10 qualifiers needing to return that set at the end of the session.

Teams will be able to make their own tyre choices from the Monaco Grand Prix onwards, but all drivers will use the same allocation of each compound in the first five races.
