F1 Mexican GP: Hamilton: Anything still possible

Lewis Hamilton says victory in the United States Grand Prix has maintained his belief in not giving up on the F1 world title this season as he hunts a maiden win in Mexico to continue to slash the points deficit to Nico Rosberg.

The defending F1 world champion cut his Mercedes team-mate's advantage down to 26 points with three races remaining heading into the final back-to-back race in Mexico.

Hamilton has reiterated his mentality of not giving up on a fourth world championship and is focusing on making amends at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez having finished runner-up to Rosberg 12 months ago, albeit having already wrapped up the 2015 title.

"It was great to finally get that 50th win after a couple of tough weekends," Hamilton said. "I've just continued to keep a positive frame of mind, avoid dwelling on the past, work and train hard and I knew eventually the result would come. The moment you give up is the moment you lose. I've never been one to give up and I don't plan on starting now. There are still plenty of points available and anything is possible.

"Next up it's Mexico, which was a great experience last time out. It's crazy how slippery the circuit is with the altitude giving you so little downforce from the car. It's a big challenge, so even though last year's race was a bit frustrating for me, I actually had a lot of fun out there. I'm looking forward to giving it another go and hopefully going one better this time.

"On top of that, it has to be one of the best crowds I've ever seen. There are so many people with so much energy and excitement for the sport in Mexico."

To stand a realistic chance of winning the 2016 F1 world drivers' championship Hamilton must win all three remaining races and hope some of his rivals finish ahead of Rosberg to order to cut down the points deficit.
