F1: Hamilton: Dip in form after title win not as bad as 2015

Hamilton is yet to win a grand prix after an early championship win, but says his recent dip in form was not as bad as in 2015.

Lewis Hamilton does not think his dip in form at the end of the 2017 Formula 1 season was as bad as in 2015, but admitted he was not racing at 100 per cent through the final two races of the year.

Hamilton's record of never winning a grand prix after an early championship success continued in Sunday's season finale in Abu Dhabi as the Briton finished second behind Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas at Yas Marina.

Hamilton was fourth in Brazil after clinching the title one race earlier in Mexico, with his failure to win either race leading to comparisons with his winless run at the end of 2015 after wrapping up his third championship with three races to spare.

"I think in previous years it probably dropped more than this year. I think this year I've tried my hardest to stay more on it but I was doing other things, celebrating a lot," Hamilton said.

"I think I still drove relatively well but yeah, I wouldn't say it was a hundred per cent like it was whilst in the season.

"What can I say? When you've won you win, doesn't matter with two races to go at the end, you've got to enjoy it.

"I do and try and still turn up and do the job. It's just not so easy."
