F1 German Grand Prix: Force India pick conservative tyre selection for German GP

Force India has been conservative with its Pirelli tyre allocation compared to its F1 rivals for the German Grand Prix as the only team with more than one set of medium tyres.

Pirelli opted for its most popular trio selection of medium, soft and super-soft compounds available for selection for the Hockenheimring, which acts as the final race before the summer shutdown, and Force India drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez have each selected three sets of medium tyres with the remainder of the grid sticking to just a single set.

As a result, Force India has sacrificed additional sets of the softer compounds; picking four soft sets per driver and six sets of super-soft per driver - fewest of any F1 team.

Ferrari, Sauber and McLaren have been the most aggressive by picking nine sets of super-soft sets and only three soft plus its one medium.

The Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have gone a step down with eight super-soft to take up four soft tyres with Red Bull, Toro Ross and Manor following suit. Williams, Renault and Haas have gone an extra set back with seven super-soft and five soft.

The German Grand Prix is set to make its return to the F1 calendar after it was cancelled last year at the Hockenheimring.
