Ex-Citroen WRC driver Breen to compete in new TitansRX series
World Rally Championship podium-finisher Craig Breen will compete in the new TitansRX rallycross series this year.
The Irish driver revealed to Autosport in February that he was interested in competing in rallycross this year after he tested Derek Tohill's Ford Fiesta Supercar at Mondello Park.
Breen, who has been competing in regional rallies in R5 machinery this year after losing his Citroen WRC seat, visited the Spanish round of the World Rallycross Championship at Barcelona last weekend.
He will compete in the 12-round TitansRX series single-make category for four-wheel drive, spaceframe Pantera RX6 machines having tested the car recently.
"It will be different to be on the track with a lot of drivers and compete in such short sprint races, but I'm looking forward to that challenge," said Breen.
"If I can master battling against rivals on track early on, then there's no reason why we can't win some races. Driving the Pantera RX6 car was an eye-opening experience and I really enjoyed testing it."
BMW BTCC driver Andrew Jordan was also recently confirmed as racing in the new championship, which has now been granted FIA International Series status.
Having initially been called GRC Europe, the new championship has been renamed 'in accordance with FIA requirements' and also dropped plans to run a second class for traditional rallycross Supercars.
It will host national support classes such as SuperNational, Super1600, Crosscart and Retro Rallycross at each round.
World RX points' leader Kevin Hansen and the winner of the Barcelona round last weekend, Timmy Hansen, will also compete, alongside former Formula 1 driver Alexander Wurz and World Rally refugee Hayden Paddon.
The series, which will get underway in France next month, is set to host its first official test in Austria this weekend.
