Euro RX: Round-up from Sweden

Sweden's Kevin Hansen continued his winning streak in the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Holjes in Sweden, by claiming victory and maximum points at the third round, his home event.

Hansen started on pole position for the final, with Peugeot Hansen Academy team mate Fredrik Salsten joining him on the front row. Hansen made the best start in the dash to the first corner, with Salsten slotting in behind. From sixth on the grid, reigning Euro RX champion Tommy Rustad climbed to fourth at turn one and went straight for the joker lap behind Tord Linnerud.

Eklund Motorsport's Alexander Hvaal ran third on lap one and took his joker on lap two, returning to the main circuit fifth and immediately tried to find a way passed Albatec Racing driver Rustad. Salsten took his joker on lap three are remained second and Hansen took his joker on lap four, comfortably retaining his lead. While it was calm at the front of the field, a race-long battle for third place ensued. Hvaal passed Rustad for fourth on lap three, and then tried a move on the inside of Linnerud in the final corner of the same lap but hit the grass on the inside and ran wide, allowing Linnerud and then Rustad back through.

Hungary's Tamas Pal Kiss was next to pass Hvaal on lap four to climb to fourth, before then making a move passed Rustad in the last corner as Linnerud dropped back. Kiss finished third on track, but was penalised for the move and disqualified from the final. Hansen's victory means he now holds a 23 point lead in the championship over Linnerud, with two rounds remaining.
