Euro RX round-up from Hell RX

The second round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship took place alongside the World RX event at Hell in Norway last weekend, where Sweden's Kevin Hansen claimed a maximum score to earn his second victory of the season and extend his championship lead.

Like Andreas Bakkerud in World RX, Hansen finished TQ (top qualifier) at the Intermediate Classification thanks to four fastest times. He started on pole position for the final, alongside Hungary's Tamas Pal Kiss and led into the first corner, while Kiss was passed for second position in turn one by France's Jerome Grosset-Janin, who started on the third row of the grid.

Norway's Tord Linnerud and Sweden's Peter Hedstrom took their joker laps on the first lap, while Sweden's Fredrik Salsten, who secured his 2015 Euro RX TouringCar title in Hell last year, was left on the grid. Kiss took his joker on lap two, Linnerud moving into third position, while Grosset-Janin took his joker on lap three, returning to the main circuit in third. Hansen dominated, extending his lead to almost seven seconds by the time he took his joker on lap five.

Kiss made a move to pass Grosset-Janin on the loose section on lap five but ran wide, allowing Hedstrom the chance to try and pass for fourth place, the Fiesta driver then spinning his car. Grosset-Janin and Kiss were both struggling with poorly working windscreen wipers, while Kiss had also picked up a front right puncture. On the final lap, Grosset-Janin's Albatec Racing Peugeot 208 began to slow with engine problems, and eventually stopped on track before the finish line.

Hansen won with Linnerud second at his home event and Kiss third. Hedstrom finished fourth with Grosset-Janin and Salsten fifth and sixth, neither making it to the finish.
