ESmotorsport reveals World RX ambitions

ESmotorsport has laid out its intentions to step up to the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy this season with a new Skoda Fabia entry
The Lithuanian outfit has formerly competed in the supporting European Super1600 class with team owner Ernestas Staponkus behind the wheel, but has now revealed bold ambitions to graduate to the premier World RX supercar category.
ESmotorport is currently building a new Skoda Fabia RX car, with Thierry Viardot from Viason Sport, Jiri Gottwald from Blue Engineering and Ken Skidmore from Autotek involved in the construction and development of the machine.
With the first tests of the Fabia scheduled for May, Staponkus - who confirms won‘t race the car himself - is targeting a World RX debut this summer.
"We are in talks with a few very well-known drivers who could race our car in the World RX championship, but we are not able to disclose the names yet. The only thing I can say is that they will be new for this category."
ESmotorsport last competed on the European stage in 2016, with Staponkus scoring a best Super1600 result of fifth place at Lydden Hill on his way to 11th in the overall standings.
