Ekstrom retires from DTM to focus on World RX
Former FIA World Rallycross Champion, Mattias Ekstrom, has today confirmed he will retire from DTM to concentrate on World RX full-time in 2018.
During a press conference at Red Bull's head office in Austria, Ekstrom explained how we reached his decision: "Since 2014, I have been driving both DTM and rallycross; great fun, but also extremely demanding. During the last year I realised that this will not work and I had to choose. No more duplication - with respect for my family and both teams."
The EKS owner added: "I will now focus on EKS and rallycross. DTM is now part of my history - I'm very grateful for the experience... thank you for 17 years of good racing. You are all invited to rallycross, where we offer action like no other four wheel motorsport. Please join me!"
Ekstrom's EKS team will announce more 2018 news later this week [Wednesday 31 January].
