Ehrlacher thanks team for WTCR chance and success

Yann Ehrlacher, leader of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, has praised ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport and its founder René Münnich for handing him his big chance for 2018.

Ehrlacher was without a drive for the inaugural WTCR OSCARO season until he was invited to test the German team's Honda Civic Type R. Following an impressive showing, the 22-year-old was signed up and hasn't looked back since.

"In February I was not really sure to get a seat in WTCR so actually when [René] asked me for a test at the end of February I was really happy to join him," said Ehrlacher, nephew of four-time World Touring Car champion Yvan Muller. "And when he gave me the opportunity to drive for his team I was very pleased. I was over-motivated to do a good result to prove he made a good decision and just to be thankful to this choice."

Given his lack of experience in touring car racing, Ehrlacher accepts he represented something of a gamble.

"I was not an easy choice because last year I did only one victory and there were a lot of drivers coming from TCR International," said the Frenchman. "But [René] decided to take a gamble and it worked. So I am just pleased to give something back to him and ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport."

Of the multiple race-winning team, Ehrlacher added: "They are doing everything very professional, everybody is very competent. They choose the right person in the right post so everything is optimised. René is fully focused on the performance, he's putting everything to the performance and that's why we are able to lead the championship at the moment. The team is very good."

Ehrlacher and his ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport will be in action when Vila Real hosts WTCR Race of Portugal from 22-24 June.
