DG Sport Compétition targets WTCR slots
DG Sport Compétition is planning to run a two-car team in the inaugural FIA World Touring Car Cup, which begins in Morocco in early April.
The leading Belgian squad has enjoyed success in the TCR category and is now working to finalise plans to enter two Peugeot 308 TCRs in the Eurosport Events-promoted series, which replaces the FIA World Touring Car Championship from 2018.
"I am very confident in the potential of the new car produced by Peugeot Sport and I am sure that we will be able to announce our line-up quickly," said Christian Jupsin, DG Sport Compétition Team Manager. "It is clear that the visibility and return for sponsors and partners will be much higher in the FIA World Touring Car, which will certainly help us to finalise the project."
DG Sport Compétition is hoping to recruit two "fast drivers" to fill its vacant seats, as it works on securing the necessary funding of the project. And it would be an attractive option having guided Mato Homola to three poles and two second places in TCR International in 2017, while Aurélien Comte won the TCR Europe Trophy in a DG-run Peugeot 308 Racing Cup.
