Coronel: I really need a good WTCR result
Tom Coronel heads to the Slovakia Ring this week desperate for a change of fortune in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.
Boutsen Ginion Racing's Honda-driving Dutchman had hoped the WTCR's level playing field regulations would provide him with more opportunity to run closer to the front in 2018. However, a thus-far frustrating campaign has yielded limited results, something Coronel wants to change.
"I really need a good result, urgently," said Coronel. "We have had some bad luck, I have made myself some mistakes, but we need to get everything perfect because the competition is higher than ever.
"It is a new team [for me], it's for me a new car and in this type of situation we need to focus on where we are not strong enough and Slovakia gives me a good feeling because we won there with the BMW [in 2013], I know the track and the Honda should be good with the good traction and it's good with high-speed corners. We are in a good preparation and a positive mood to have the best score of the season."
At the halfway point of the WTCR OSCARO season, Coronel is P19 in the standings with 16 points. Click here to view the provisional order after 15 races.
