Comte: big error cost WTCR Wuhan win

French flyer Aurélien Comte labelled himself "stupid" for not winning Race 2 at WTCR Race of China-Wuhan on Sunday.

The PEUGEOT 308TCR driver muscled ahead of long-time leader Mehdi Bennani on the final lap only to run wide at the last turn and slip back to second, just holding off third-placed Nathanäel Berthon in the process.

"My car was very good in the last laps," said the DG Sport Compétition driver. "It was a big fight with Bennani in the last lap but I am stupid. It was a big error in the last corner, I got on the inside and there was no grip. But I am happy with this result for PEUGEOT and DG Sport."

Had Comte stayed it front it would have been his second victory in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO. Instead, Bennani became winner number 12 of the season in his Sébastien Loeb Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.
