Champion Kristoffersson heads World RX season opener entry

The entry list for the first round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Spain next month (April 13-15) has been released by the FIA.

A total of 18 World RX Supercars will race in the World RX of Catalunya-Barcelona - the opening round of the 2018 World RX season - with nine different nationalities of drivers taking part. The entry list includes the 15 permanent drivers, made up of six two-car teams and three individual entrants, led by reigning World RX Drivers' Champion, Johan Kristoffersson, whose PSRX Volkswagen Sweden will display the coveted number #1 on the rear windows this season.

Ma Qinghua will become the first ever Chinese driver to compete in World RX, the former WTCC race winner, Formula E driver and Formula 1 tester joining Latvia's Janis Baumanis in Team Stard, to race a Ford Fiesta having tested with the Austrian outfit at Loheac recently.

Great Britain's Oliver Bennett will debut a brand-new BMW Mini Cooper in Barcelona too, while veteran French driver Herve "Knapick" Lemonnier will compete in one of his own team's Citroen DS3 Supercars.

The first round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar will also be held in Barcelona, where 26 Supercars, including drivers from 13 different countries will compete. The Euro RX entry is led by defending champion, Anton Marklund, who will continue to race a Volkswagen Polo in 2018.

In the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600, a new champion will be crowned in 2018. The 1600cc front-wheel drive category crown will be fought for by a host of former race winners and podium finishers, along with new drivers. A maximum 25 drivers feature on the Barcelona entry list, with an additional four drivers on a reserve list.
