Calm Homola wants more WTCR success – but without the pressure
Mato Homola is determined his maiden victory in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO in Portugal last month won't be a one-off - but is anxious it doesn't ramp up the pressure ahead of his home event.
This weekend's WTCR Race of Slovakia takes place 20 kilometres from Homola's home close to Bratislava and thousands of fans are expected to follow his progress at the wheel of a DG Sport Compétition PEUGEOT 308TCR.
"I felt I needed some good results and Vila Real was perfect," said Homola, 23. "From the general public, from the media it was a really big thing but it's only one victory and I want to continue like that. It was a big thing but I don't want to be under some kind of pressure because of this."
Homola has not driven his PEUGEOT since his Vila Real triumph but isn't treating that as a negative. "I hope it will not be a disadvantage," he said. "The advantage is I know the circuit and I am in a good mood after the success in Vila Real. But we need to calm down and be on our feet and work hard to have more good results."
