Calling junior asphalt experts...
Organisers of the Junior WRC have called on up-and-coming asphalt rally drivers to put their skills to the test later this year and try to win two fully-funded WRC 2 prize drives.
Aspiring drivers aged 29 or under are invited to enter the final two Junior WRC rounds, the all-asphalt ADAC Rallye Deutschland and the mixed-surface RallyRACC Catalunya - Rally de España, where the driver scoring the most points across both rallies will win two prize drives next season.
Competing in identical Ford Fiesta R2T cars equipped with DMACK tyres, newcomers will have the opportunity to gauge their pace against championship regulars and battle to drive an M-Sport-prepared Ford Fiesta R5 on two World Championship rounds in 2018.
Maciek Woda, Junior WRC manager, said: "The split format of the prize structure opens up the opportunity for more competitors to challenge for the WRC 2 prize drives, and the final two events in Germany and Spain are more attractive to drivers with greater experience on Tarmac.
"The open nature of the championship allows young drivers to join for two rallies and challenge the series regulars. It really is the best opportunity to win such a significant prize."
Spain's Nil Solans currently lead the series after winning all three events so far this year. Round four takes place next week at Neste Rally Finland [27-30 July].
