Björk ready for second world title bid following first WTCR test proper

Thed Björk believes he is ready to bid for back-to-back world titles following his first "real test day" aboard his YMR Hyundai i30 N TCR.

Björk is lining up for the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car presented by OSCARO, the name for the World Touring Car Championship, which the Swede won in 2017 following a final round showdown with Norbert Michelisz.

Speaking following the official WTCR test in Barcelona on Thursday, Björk said: "We have done some shakedowns but we've had a lot of things to sort out. Today was like the first real test day and it felt like now we've got to where we want to be and now we are prepared for Marrakech for the first race."

Of his Hyundai i30 TCR Björk continued: "It's not like a TC1 car that we had before and that was completely developed around me. It's a customer car and we can't make so many big changes on. But on the other hand I will take this car and focus on the small stuff, adjusting the set-up and being as fast as possible.

"Last year the pressure was really on to bring the championship-winning car and that was not easy. It was really a challenging experience but we made it. I bring that with me, I feel more relaxed this year and I can only do what I can with the car."
