Björk adds TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy to WTCR Race 3 win

Thed Björk emphasised just how fast he was on the streets of Vila Real by claiming the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy at WTCR Race of Portugal by setting the quickest race lap of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO weekend during his Race 3 victory performance.

The YMR Hyundai i30 N TCR driver set a fastest lap of 2m02.964s around the 4.790km Circuito Internacional de Vila Real, which proved quicker than Gabriele Tarquini's benchmark set in Race 1 on Saturday.

Björk, who also set the fastest lap on his way to P10 in the reverse-grid Race 2, was consistently the fastest driver of the weekend on the sun-baked street track.

Although Sébastien Loeb Racing's Rob Huff claimed the DHL Pole Position for Race 1 on Saturday, Björk became the only driver of the weekend to dip below the two-minute mark on his way to a convincing DHL Pole in qualifying on Sunday morning for Race 3.

Having managed the feat in the Q2 session, he bettered his time in the single-lap Q3 shoot-out with a lap of 1m59.824s to beat Norbert Michelisz by 0.3s.

Meanwhile, Pep Oriola was the TAG Heuer Most Valuable Driver in Vila Real after scoring 50 points for Team OSCARO by Campos Racing.
