Bertelli withdraws Germany entry

Lorenzo Bertelli has withdrawn from next week's ADAC Rallye Deutschland (18 - 21 august) following his huge crash at Neste Rally Finland last month.

Co-driver Simone Scattolin has not fully recovered after being knocked unconscious when the pair rolled their Ford Fiesta RS early in Saturday morning's opening Ouninpohja speed test. Both were airlifted to hospital as the stage was neutralised and released later in the day following checks.

It was Scattolin's second visit to hospital in three rallies after the pair also crashed out of Rally Italia Sardegna in June.

"We're sorry for the fans who for the second year won't see us on the stages at ADAC Rallye Deutschland, but for Simone it's better like this," Bertelli wrote on Twitter.

He also withdrew from last year's rally before the start after being taken ill during the pre-event recce with suspected food poisoning.
