Bennani: We’re building something that’s very promising for the rest of the WTCR season
Mehdi Bennani believes lessons learned during WTCR Race of Netherlands will boost his chances when the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO heads next to Portugal from 22-24 June.
Bennani scored a weekend-high of fifth in Race 2 at Zandvoort driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for Sébastien Loeb Racing. He headed back to his native Morocco having finished in the top 10 in all three races at the former Dutch Grand Prix venue.
"Thanks to the precious help of Sébastien Loeb Racing I was able to improve throughout the weekend and I feel more and more at home behind the wheel of the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR," said Bennani. "I'm happy to have been able to get up among the front-runners at the end of the meeting as we found more performance.
"It was a particularly intense round so it was all the more agreeable to score big points in these conditions. The pace is pretty hot and we're continuing to consolidate our gains and make progress: we're building something that's very promising for the rest of the season."
