Bennani is the WTCC’s lead leader
Mehdi Bennani might have missed out on third place in the overall FIA World Touring Car Championship standings and the WTCC Trophy title to boot, but no driver led more laps in 2017 than the Moroccan maestro.
Bennani was in front for 40 laps during the 2017 season, landing three wins in total in his Sébastien Loeb Racing Citroën C-Elysée WTCC.
By leading for 36 laps in 2017, Tiago Monteiro finished up second with Tom Chilton (32), Esteban Guerrieri and Norbert Michelisz (both 27) and Rob Huff (14) next up.
World champion Thed Björk led for 13 laps, including two at the Nürburgring Nordschleife where he claimed the second of his two 2017 victories.
Tom Coronel (11 laps), Nicky Catsburg (9), Yann Ehrlacher (9), Néstor Girolami (3) and Kevin Gleason (1) also led rounds of the WTCC in 2017.
