Been here before: Why Björk should not be too concerned about WTCR points loss
Thed Björk would do well to think back to 2017 for inspiration in his bid to get his WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO title challenge back on track.
Cyan Racing Lynk & Co driver Björk was leading on the #RoadToMalaysia following the season-opening races in Morocco. However, a tough WTCR Race of Hungary weekend has dropped him to third in the table and 19 points shy of new title leader Néstor Girolami.
Back in 2017, when he won the FIA World Touring Car Championship, Björk left the Hungaroring with a solitary seventh place to show for his efforts. This year, he managed a weekend-best fifth.
“We had a really tough weekend but I am still pleased to have come away from it with a decent amount of points considering the circumstances,” said the Swede, he bagan his weekend with seventh in Race 1. “This is such a competitive championship and we still have plenty of areas to work on with our new race car. We need to continue pushing hard and score points consistently.”
