Ardusso wouldn’t rule out WTCR wildcard chance
Súper TC2000 champion Facundo Ardusso would consider racing in the FIA World Touring Car Cup when the WTCR visits his native Argentina in August - providing he received an invitation to do so.
While WTCR entries will be restricted to 26 cars during the inaugural season, there is an allowance in the rules for two wildcards to take part at every round, paving the way for drivers like Ardusso to potentially get an invitation to race.
With a packed programme of domestic racing in store in 2018, Ardusso's only opportunity to showcase his talent to WTCR teams would be at the Termas de Río Hondo event from 4-5 August, which doesn't clash with his mammoth 28-weekend schedule, his priority in the short term.
"I'd really love to test a WTCR car and my racing suit is clean and ready if I had the chance," Ardusso said. "WTCR is moving forward but I could only think about it in the long term because I will be racing for 28 weekends at home this year so it's not something for the short term. But a one-off at Termas, if I was invited, is something I would think about because it does not clash with my other commitments."
WTCR 2018 begins at Circuit Moulay El Hassan in Marrakech, Morocco, from 7-8 April.
