All-new Mazda3 premieres at the 2013 IAA

• Third model of Mazda's thriving new generation on stage in Frankfurt
• All-new Mazda3 to arrive at European showrooms in October

Captivating, capable, connected: The all-new Mazda3 is the highlight of Mazda's exhibition in Frankfurt at this year's International Motor Show (IAA). And although it won't go on sale until October, it's already proven itself on the road during a rather extreme test drive.

The new model's equipment is, in a word, generous for a car in this class. Mazda's brand new connectivity concept makes the company's top-selling model one of the first in Europe's C segment to take occupants online. Building on existing email, text and navigation features, the system safely brings an array of free mobile online content into the vehicle, including Facebook and Twitter audio feeds as well as AhaTM, with tens of thousands of cloud-based stations, from radio to audio books and more.

Like the first two models of Mazda's inspired new generation, the all-new Mazda3 gets the award-winning KODO design. Adapted for the Mazda3's sporty compact physique, the exterior unites a bold, powerful stance expressing pent-up energy with superior build quality. Hatchback or sedan, the shapes save fuel too, with some of the best aerodynamics in the segment.

Convention-defying technology
Inside the cabin, Mazda's brand new interior offers safe, ergonomic comfort. Larger than the outgoing model in most respects, the new Mazda3 also gets an optimised human-machine interface (HMI). Highlights include the Active Driving Display, Mazda's new head-up display, another rarity in this class, and the redesigned rotary commander enabling efficient blind operation of infotainment functions.
The new Mazda3 is also the third model with the complete range of SKYACTIV Technology. At its heart are a choice of ultra-efficient extreme compression 100-165PS petrol engines and a 150PS clean diesel. These are coupled to refreshingly snappy six-speed automatic and manual transmissions to deliver superb performance over a satisfyingly wide and linear power band as well as remarkable fuel economy and CO2 emissions* particularly under real-world conditions.

One of the most experienced all-new Mazda3s will also be on display at the Mazda stand throughout the IAA after being driven there directly from the factory in Japan. It is one of eight hatchbacks currently navigating the 15,000km "Mazda Route3 Hiroshima-Frankfurt Challenger Tour 2013" across Russia, Belarus and Poland. Other Mazda3 tour cars, which are scheduled to arrive in Frankfurt just in time for the motor show, will be on hand at an outdoor area of the exhibition grounds in connection with various activities. Mazda's stand is located at hall 9, stand B12. A press conference will take place on 10 Sept. at 2pm.

A short history of the Mazda3
Mazda's most important model was born 10 years ago, when the very first generation one model rolled off the production line in Japan. With a convincing combination of looks and economical driving fun, the Mazda3 would become Mazda's fastest seller ever. And when the even lighter, safer and more responsive second generation arrived in 2009, it picked up right where its precursor left off, capturing the recognition of the public, the media and automobile authorities around the world including J.D. Power. So far, the first two generations have found 3.6 million owners and earned 136 awards. And a new chapter in the convention-defying success story begins now with the all-new third generation Mazda3.
