Advantage Tarquini but it’s close in WTCR title battle

Gabriele Tarquini will take a three-point lead into the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO summer break following a strong Slovakia weekend.

Tarquini finished third in Race 1 and won Race 2 to score 42 points and move back to the top of the title summit as his non-finish in Race 3 - following an opening-lap crash - went largely unpunished when rival Yvan Muller also went out with a front-left wheel failure.

Norbert Michelisz, who partners Tarquini at BRC Racing Team, is firmly in the championship hunt following his maiden WTCR OSCARO victory. With 18 races run, the Hungarian is 26 points behind his Italian team-mate. Yann Ehrlacher and Jean-Karl Vernay trail Michelisz by five and 10 points respectively.

In the Teams' championship battle, BRC is 10 points ahead of YMR with ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport next up in third.
